Hi Halloween friends! Happy September!

Primitive Pumpkin Stem Peeps and Wine Cork Pumps

Well Hello again!
Not much in the mood for bunnies. Did manage to make one.
Here are my latest Primitive Pumpkins. The big ones are made with real pumpkin stems. The little guys are wine corks. All have real acorn cap hats. They have watch gear eyes and vintage button eyes.
All are weird you've got to keep your eyes on them. They seem to turn about on their own! Boo!

Send in the Clowns or Send Them Away

When making this next series of Clowns I had a few interesting memories come to mind. I was thinking about a certain abandoned home from my childhood. The home was off a dirt road called Lone Tree Road. You could not see the home from the road only corn fields. The home was very spooky and said to be haunted. The man who lived and died in the house was a Clown who preformed with the Ringling Brothers Circus. I only went into the home once it was a very short visit!

The song Send in the Clowns was written by Stephen Sondheim in 1973 for the musical A Little Night Music. The song was not actually about clowns but how we as humans can be foolish in life.
The song was made popular by Frank Sinatra and Judy Collins.

Isn't it rich?
Are we a pair?
Me here at last on the ground,
You in mid-air.
Where are the clowns?

Isn't it bliss?
Don't you approve?
One who keeps tearing around,
One who can't move...
Where are the clowns?
Send in the clowns.
          -Stephen Sondheim

Well I think I may have been foolish as a kid to go into that house. The house where the clown lived.
And just maybe these clowns will be adopted and I can send them away!

And here is a few of the Hags. I like their noses which are metal screws of different kinds. Back to painting and staining for me. I hope to share the candy box soon. Thanks for stopping by be back soon!

Meet My Primitive Poppets

Poppets are an old spelling of puppet. In folk magic a poppet is a doll that represents a person for casting spells on that soul, or to aid them through magic. I'm not sure if I will command them to do my bidding. I like them as they are little spookies!  My poppets are made with found parts of all sorts. They are full of spirits! Wine spirits that is. I used wine corks for their bodies.
I also found a wonderful New England Folklore Blog I'd like to share with you. I found this in my search for interesting info on poppets. Click here to have a look see!
I'll be listing my poppets on ebay soon I'll let you know. Wishing you all a magical weekend!

Custom Order Acorn Man & Candy Corns

Hi Friends I hope you are all having a wonderful Summer! I wanted to share this Acorn Man and his peeps with you. He is a custom order for a wonderful collector and valued customer. I have made several Acorns but I think he is my favorite so far.
You see for one night only on All Hallows Eve acorns can become enchanted and grow to giant proportions. They roam the land looking for Candy. They enjoy playing tricks on their fellow non-enchanted acorn brothers!
I also wanted to share a couple of Candy Corn Ornaments. They are on ebay if you like to take a peek.
Wishing you all a wonderful and creative week everyone!

A Halloween Mushroom & Other Odd Folks

I know what you're thinking! She an her magic mushrooms what an odd person. I can't help it! My obsession with fungi goes to far. There is a good reason for including mushrooms in Halloween decor really! According to folklore Witches used magic mushrooms to aid in their Halloween flights. I thought that was fun info.
These odd fellows are all made with vintage clothes pins. And yes I have started making snowmen. So back to painting for me. Wishing you all a creative week!

Coulrophobia

Do you have it Fear of Clowns?
Well, I have to admit Pennywise the Clown from Stephen Kings It got to me a little. The other clown was the one in Poltergeist which turned it's head around that was creepy.
I used to watch Bozo as a child he didn't scare me.
Here's my nod the the Creepy Clown world. I think his name is Corky. My boys don't like him so I guess my attempt worked.
If you'd like to venture further into the Creep World of Clowns you can check out this treasury I made at Etsy. Warning though it contains Creepy Clowns!
