Yikes Scared Black Cat Ornament!

Hi Halloween friends! Happy September!
I just finished this scared cat. I haven't made black cats in a couple years.  I really like this one so I hope to make more. Maybe I will make some for Christmas as well.  I prefer the sad and scared ones they kind of reflect my life and mood.

Morel the Mushroom Creepling

If you can't tell already I like Mushrooms. This is Morel he is up to no good! Morels are a real harbinger of spring here. I don't normally see them around our parts until May. This guy is arrived a little early.
Real Morels are a delicacy. There is a wonderful website if you'd like to learn more about them. There are even Festivals celebrating this fungi.
Mushrooms are a symbol of luck & prosperity and long life.

Spring has Sprung it's time to Celebrate

I'm so happy that Spring has arrived! It was such a very long winter. I'd like to introduce the last of my Spring ornaments. Disguised Bunny Carrot thinks he can fool the real Easter Bunny! His goal is not to get eaten. Bunnies and Easter Egg sugar cookies ornaments are super happy & springy.

Meet Jack

I've been told I'm unconventional. I take that as a compliment why be normal. So I've been making spring bunnies lately. I was missing Halloween. So what do you get when you cross the Easter Bunny with a Jack O' Lantern. You get Jack Rabbit! Jack is here if you'd like to see more of him.

A little Holiday twist

I wasn't able to finish all the Gingerbread Men Ornaments in time for Christmas. So I converted this one into a Sugar Cookie Valentine. He's awaiting some love in my Etsy shop. The other Valentine's Day Gingerbread Man was made by my son. I love him he's the best Valentine's Ever!

Ok that's the line used in the movie Monsters Inc. Does anyone remember when Mike and Sulley were banished to the land of the Abominable Snowman? He served them lemon snow cones.
Yeti or Abominable Snowman is a magical ape like creature from the Himalayan Mountain region. So why not add him into the Christmas mix! The Rudolph movies did!

Hollies & Berries Ornament and fun Folklore

I'm just diverting away form Halloween for a moment to share my newest ornament. I am always fascinated to discover why we use certain symbols for decorating through the holidays. The folklore of Holly and Berries is wonderful. A symbol of rebirth used for protection against: naughty faeries, bad weather and lightning. It is considered very good luck to bring Holly & Berries into your home for the Holidays. If you choose the thorny type which is consider male or the smooth type considered female this determines who will rule the home in the coming year husband or wife. Celebrate Halloween 365

My copy of the Halloween 2010 issue of Celebrate 365 Magazine came in the mail yesterday! I was thrilled to be included with friends and many Halloween Folk Artists I admire. My Orange and Black Cat sugar cookie Ornaments are featured and one of my Skull Ornaments! The back cover also features my Pumpkin Ornament. Thank you bunches to Connie Porcher for including me! What's Brewing

This week I'm working on both Halloween and Christmas. I've got some Owls and a Mushroom Ornament I'll be finishing. I've also have more Gingerbread Men and Women we can't forget the ladies! I'm excited about the Hollies & Berries ornament. So back to work for me wishing everyone a wonderful and creative day!

Two Faced Black Cat

I made this Black Cat for Magical holiday Artists team Challenge. I didn't get him finished on time. Having 2 faces took twice as long. I think in this case being Two Faced is a good thing he's here if you'd like to see more of him. Now off to make some Jacks and Christmas. I know it's way to early but I'd like to get ahead this year!

I love the look of a classic Jack O' Lantern. I found my candy molds and made this JOL ornament. It's amazing what I find when I'm cleaning out the basement. I hope to start making a studio down there. Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!

Acorn & Oak Leaf Ornament and fun Folklore

The perfect Autumn symbol is the Acorn and Oak. Within the Acorn holds the potential of the might Oak Tree. Oaks are associated with the Druids. According to the Ogham Script(an ancient Celtic tree alphabet) Oak(English) is Duir(Irish) associated with doorway and endurance. The Druids were known to practice and gather in sacred Oak Groves. Also linked to Green Man, Zeus and Thor.
If you catch a falling Oak leaf in Autumn before it hits the ground you will be protected from colds during the winter months. I need to try that I'll get the whole family out there!
Acorns also hold magical properties: strength, courage. This power is stronger during the Oak Moon. Sleep with them under your pillow and you may over come challenges in your life. My 5 year old likes to do this an it seems to work well for him. I didn't tell him too he just does. I also find rocks, leaves and twigs under his pillows. What can I say we are very in tune with nature living in the woods!
