Just some Wips
I've been working on lots of Halloween Ornaments trying to get ahead. I've got some: cats, scarecrows, skeleton keys, leaves, a harvest moon. The Jol's are from chocolate molds. It's amazing what you find when you start cleaning out the basement! The weathers been wonderful here and outside is where I'd rather be. It's hard to focus when the garden is calling.
My friend Wendy is having a dark and lovely giveaway at her blog. You must go see you won't be disappointed! I'm off to water the pumpkins so have a delightful day everyone!

Snap Apple Night
Did you know that in some parts of the world Halloween was called Snap Apple Night. The origins can be found in the Roman Feast of Pomona. Pomona is the Goddess of fruits and seeds. Apples are the perfect fall fruit and really symbolize the Autumn spirit.
Apples were often used on Snap Apple Night in Divination. Carve an apple peel in one long strip. Toss it over your shoulder to reveal the 1st letter of your true Love's name. Burying an apple on Halloween so souls waiting birth will have food on their long journey. Placing apples in a bucket of water symbolizes the journey to immortality and to Avalon. Trying to bite and hold the apple in ones mouth is the difficult part of the trip. The first person to do so is said to be kissed by the Goddess and will be the first to get married.
Well I love apples. We are Apple picking people. When I see them forming and growing in the orchard down the road I know it's just a matter of time until Fall. These Folky Apples are now in my Etsy Shop. My favorite one is the green sour Apple.

Midsummer Delight
Well hello and Happy Summer! We had a powerful and magical storm roll through Friday. We lost power for a couple days and went to stay with family. We took the boys to the lake which was beautiful. It's nice to visit but great to be home! Wishing everyone a very Magical Summer! Here's a Treasury I made in honor of Midsummer.

I Wish you could Smell this Rose!
Does anyone remember Sweet Honesty perfume by Avon? I used to have this as a young girl. This Rose smells just like that perfume. I'm not sure of the name of this Rose. I got it on clearance from Walmart a couple years ago. I think I paid around $2.00 well worth it!
It's said that Goddess of Flowers, Chloris came upon a dead wood nymph in the forest. She was saddened by this. So she asked the other Gods and Goddesses to transform her lifeless body into the Rose. The God of Wine, Dionysus gave the Rose it's Scent and Nectar. The Rose's Beauty came from the Goddess Aphrodite. And the Three Sisters Aglaia, Euphrosyne and Thalia(also know as the Graces) bestowed the gifts of happiness, intelligence, and eternal youth. Chloris bestowed the Rose with a crown of dewdrops and made her The Queen of The Flowers! Fitting for such a beauty! So please stop today and smell the Roses! Yep I'm wearing my rose-colored glasses today!

Pumpkins making Progress
Well with all the rain we are getting they are doing great! No varmints are eating them. My tomatoes and other veggies are gone. The deer-off spray washes away in rain. My herbs for the most part are fine. I'm just hoping to get a few nice size carving pumpkins! I'll keep you posted.
I've been under the weather and it's hard to create so I've been playing on the computer a lot. Made some Etsy Treasuries. Why well I love shopping and for me it's like window shopping. I never get bored with that. Plus there is just so much talent and amazing art on Etsy.
Here's a Spellbound one.
Here's a Raven one.
Wishing all a wonderful Sunday!

Acorn & Oak Leaf Ornament and fun Folklore
The perfect Autumn symbol is the Acorn and Oak. Within the Acorn holds the potential of the might Oak Tree. Oaks are associated with the Druids. According to the Ogham Script(an ancient Celtic tree alphabet) Oak(English) is Duir(Irish) associated with doorway and endurance. The Druids were known to practice and gather in sacred Oak Groves. Also linked to Green Man, Zeus and Thor.
If you catch a falling Oak leaf in Autumn before it hits the ground you will be protected from colds during the winter months. I need to try that I'll get the whole family out there!
Acorns also hold magical properties: strength, courage. This power is stronger during the Oak Moon. Sleep with them under your pillow and you may over come challenges in your life. My 5 year old likes to do this an it seems to work well for him. I didn't tell him too he just does. I also find rocks, leaves and twigs under his pillows. What can I say we are very in tune with nature living in the woods!
Oops almost forgot it's Treasury Thursday for Magical Holiday Artists Team! The Theme this week is Enchanting Realms. Check out some of our new team members! :)
Oak and Acorn are now listed in my Etsy Shop!

A Painting, A Lake and some Witches
My son painted these flowers and I love them! Now framed and hanging in my kitchen. He is more into the drawing than painting but I'd like to fill the rest of my kitchen with these kind of blooms!
Went to the lake with the boys and a few friends this weekend. I have never been this early in the season and it was beautiful. Getting a tan in one day priceless!
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend too!
I know it's going to be summer soon but I'm still in fall mode. So fly over and see the Witchy Treasury I made. I'm off to try and paint some ornaments have a great day everyone!
