Two Faced Black Cat

I made this Black Cat for Magical holiday Artists team Challenge. I didn't get him finished on time. Having 2 faces took twice as long. I think in this case being Two Faced is a good thing he's here if you'd like to see more of him. Now off to make some Jacks and Christmas. I know it's way to early but I'd like to get ahead this year!

A Few of My Favorite Things

Thank you my sweet friends Sarah, Sherry and Chris and Autumn. They awarded me these sweet awards. Sherry gave me the versatile blogger award. Ok so I'm not going to follow the rules. I'm supposed to write 10 things I like. Instead I picked 10 lovely things from my garden. Can you guess what they are? The first person to comment and guess all 10 I will send a special treat! Please leave me a way to find you if you're not a blogger. Good luck I think this is a fun twist!

Some new Jacks & My Favorite Wine

One can never have enough Jacks can one?
Now on to the wine! Witches Brew is Back! It's one of my favorite warm Red Spiced Wines by Leelanau Cellars. The description on the back label says Witches Brew is a spiced wine that simmers with the allure of an Autumn's Eve. Well we are getting down into the 40's tonight so I'm all about the wine! I know you want some! Wishing everyone an Enchanted evening!

Pumpkins I Treasure!

Look what I found! I was so excited! My son was still three when he painted these for me. I cut out the pumpkin shape for him out of canvas paper. I'm not sure if anyone has used canvas paper but it curls when it gets too wet. I hung these up the year he made them, then stashed them in one of my gardening books. I'm so happy I found them! My son is five now and still loves to paint. I have a feeling when I get my basement studio there will be two of us working down there!

Happy Friday!

I love the look of a classic Jack O' Lantern. I found my candy molds and made this JOL ornament. It's amazing what I find when I'm cleaning out the basement. I hope to start making a studio down there. Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!

A Little Witch & Black Cat

According to my 1988 Webster's Dictionary a Witch is a woman said to be endowed with black-magical powers. My little Witch is Bewitched affected by Witchcraft or Charmed. Black Cat was not in the Dictionary but Cat was. I was a little surprised by the definition! Cat: tame or wild animal of the genus Felis that's the first definition. The second yikes it actually says a spiteful woman! Can you believe! My little Black Cat is just that a Cat. A magic formula and enchantment is the meaning of Spell. So I have learned my Dictionary is way out of date! 1988 does that date me lol!
Little Witch & her Black Cat are sold Thank You!
I'll be sure to pick up an updated Dictionary!

Oh the Carnage!

Well, we were away for a couple days and look what happened to baby pumpkin! He was eaten by a pumpkin monster! My 3 year old wants me to glue him but he is missing part of his skin and guts. I'll have to buy one and pretend I glued him. I had to pick the other larger one to save it from the pumpkin monster! At least we have one!

Apple Cider and Donuts

An Autumnal favorite where I live! Our Orchard does sell in the summer too. They also add seasonal fruits such as blueberry to their donuts. I love that!
Apple Cider is a traditional Autumn drink which is mostly served Halloween, Thanksgiving and even into Christmas. It can be served spiced, heated, mulled and hard. In most parts of the world Cider refers to a fermented alcoholic drink. Refered to here in the US as hard Cider. The kind I get here locally is unpasteurized and is made from a blend of apples. Yummy alone or you could add Cinnamon, orange peel, nutmeg, cloves or mulling spices.
I've added my folksy take on Cider and Donuts if you'd like see more of them I've listed them here. Now I'm off to dream of fall and make more pumpkins and a cat or two.

Friday the 13th

Happy Friday the 13th! Not the best shot but cute anyways. This is Luna as a kitten and her mom Hekate just behind her. I think black cats and Friday the 13th go hand in hand. So if you'd like to see more Black Cats to get you in the mood click here.

I also love Jason and Camp Crystal Lake. Growing up in Michigan which is full of lakes scary stories are always swirling around.
So anyways here's a few fun Friday the 13th facts for you.
Hotels rarely have a room 13.
Buildings often skip floor 13.
Highways sometimes skip exit 13 altogether.
There are 13 steps to the gallows.
Lizzy Borden uttered a total of 13 words at her trial.
So much fun folklore out there surround one of my favorite numbers.
Be careful today and Happy Friday the 13th!

After the Rain

The first shot is some sort of cobweb. I love how it caught the water droplets! You have to really watch out this time of year when you're out in the backyard. Hickory nuts are falling! The poor bumble bee looks tired he's been a busy bee. Finally this is the first year that I've had luck training the Grandpa Ottis Morning Glories to grow up the post of my front porch. I'm thrilled that it worked this year!

Hungry Candy Corn Man!

I belong to SEHA the Society of Eclectic Halloween Artist on Ebay. Our August Challenge was Candy Corn. Here's my take on a Candy Corn Man. Although I do like making cute smiles and happy faces we all have a darker side. I thought my version was funny but to my 3 year old this Candy Corn Man is disturbing! So for now this is as dark as I can get.
Candy Corn Man and little Jacks are here if you'd like to more of them.

SEHA is also having an August Giveaway click on the SEHA Facebook link on the right for more info!

Black and Orange

My boys think they look like glazed sugar cookies. I wouldn't recommend that. I had some real kittens in my yard but I can't find them. With all the strays and barns here who knows where Gypsy put them. There was an orange one I named Pumpkin. Anyway I'm off to finish a Candy Corn with a darker side and some Cider and donuts. If you'd like to see the Black Cat he is here. Orange Cat is Sold Thank You!

Wips and Tree Frog

I just can't paint fast enough. There are a couple local Harvest festival's in my area in September. I'd like to do the one just up the road and it's for one day only. Most of you know my husband travels the country doing art shows. I don't think I could handle a 3 day show. So I'm trying to get ahead. Wish me luck!
Here's the Tree Frog that lives on my deck. I can't use my lounge chair because he lives there. Oh well he's cute and I'm sure he's eating bugs so he's a keeper!
